Located on the south side of Monte Brè, the Lugano suburb of Ruvigliana is ideally placed for both quiet breaks and access to the centre of Lugano. It has spectacular views Lago di Lugano and across the lake to Italy.
The border with the Italian province of Como is just over 3km away along the lakeside road. Lugano centre is a within reasonable walking distance (it is not flat). The Suvigliana stop on the Monte Brè funicular railway is also in the same part of town. The lake road to the east takes you through the Italian town of Porlezza and on to Menaggio on the shore of Lago di Como.
Farther afield trains from Lugano provide easy access to the rest of Switzerland and the vibrant city of Milan.
